YOU SHOWED UP  - in Greensboro, North Carolina, for the 2022 PLANNING MEETING, SUMMER SUMMIT, ANNUAL  CLERGY RETREAT, AND ANNUAL STEWARD  and TRUSTEE TRAINING, July 11-14, 2022

AND GOD SHOWED OUT! All Praises to God!

Even though words cannot adequately express our appreciation to so many people in the SED

and beyond who assisted in making this 2022 gathering a tremendous success, I thank God for each of you:

  • Everyone’s safety was at the top of our agenda. Hats off to Sis. Azzie Conley, Dr. Elvin Price, Sis. Andrea Price the Health Ministry and the Ottendorf Laboratories, who conducted daily protocol screenings for each attendee; and the Registration Check-in team and other volunteers under the leadership of Dr. Valdes Snipes who issued clearance bracelets and confirmation for entering meeting areas. A special note to the American Red Cross blood drive donors. Your participation left a lasting impression by demonstrating the church’s concern for the total  health & well-being of humankind;

  • Our dedicated Presiding Elders, pastors/clergy, and lay (children, youth, young adults, and adults); our local congregations who provided financial, moral, and spiritual support to members who attended in person; Our Components; Our Chaperones;

  • Our Co-Directors of Christian Education, Sister Robin Porter Smith, and Dr. Bester Joyce Bonner, the five Conference Directors of Christian Education and Christian Education Directors on all levels; Clergy Retreat coordinators, Dr. Gwendolyn Boyd and Dr. Linda Mouzon; Our dynamic workshop facilitators and presenters for all age levels and interest groups, including Drs. Grainger & JoAnn Browning; Rev. Latisha Thomas and the team who coordinated the Awards Ceremony;

  • Those who poured into us through the preached word, including Ordination Preacher, Bishop Reginald T. Jackson, Presiding  Prelate, 6th Episcopal District, AME Church; Keynote Worship Service, preacher,  Rev. Anne Champion Shaw, Executive Pastor of Bethel AME Church, San Francisco, CA, 5th Episcopal District AME Church;

  • Our Level-UP sacrificial contributors for going the second mile. We had nearly 400 persons give $350.00 or more towards our goal of 1,400 contributors. If you are among the nearly 1,000 persons who wish to make a sacrificial contribution, it’s not too last to do so NOW. Go to the SED website at www.ame2.com to give your $350 or more gift to pay off the mortgage on the Pennsylvania property. Please support this campaign to leave a financial legacy for generations to come.

  • Last but certainly not least, the SED Executive Administrator, Mrs. Janet Benjamin, and the Office Support Staff. If we missed calling your name, please charge it to the head, not the heart.

The 2022 Planning Meeting, Summer Summit, Annual Clergy Retreat, and  Stewards and Trustees Training provided the participants with skills to carry out Christ’s mandate pronounced  in Matthew 28:18-20, “. . Go and make disciples of all the nations. . .”  What did the disciples do.? Mark 16:20 says, “And the disciples went everywhere and preached, and the Lord worked through them, confirming what they said by many miraculous signs,”  Let us do likewise in our towns, cities, and throughout the world.
