"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." 2nd Chronicles 7:14
DAY 1 – YOUR SERVANT’S PRAYER FOR 2020 ANNUAL CONFERENCES
Holy Father,
We pray that we will be on one accord and as your servants in accomplishing the Church’s Mission in carrying out The Great Commission which is to save the lost and grow the saved. We pray for discernment and guidance as we conduct the business of our annual conferences. We pray for God’s intervention through the workings of His Holy Spirit to grant us the knowledge to make wise decisions that will bring, glory, honor, and praise to Him. As believers, we will reject superficiality and revolutionize our lives by embracing a profound other-centered God-guided approach to our lives and dedicate our lives unconditionally to you. We come expectantly, with a mind to work. We have come to take care of your business Lord. Give us the desire to use our time wisely and well. In the Name of Him whose Name is above all names in heaven and on earth. Amen!
DAY 2 – YOUR SERVANT’S PRAYER FOR 2020 ANNUAL CONFERENCES
Holy God, the Lord of our lives, the source of all that we are.
We praise you; we love you; we adore you, and we magnify your wondrous and glorious name! We come before you asking that you prepare our hearts, souls, minds, and spirits for the work that is before us in the 2020 Annual Conferences. We seek your divine guidance as we labor in our respective conference in Baltimore, MD, Glenn Dale, MD, Portsmouth, VA, Raeford, NC, and Greensboro, NC. We pray for each presiding elder, each pastor and all Components that make up the life and ministry of the Second Episcopal District of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. May we show ourselves worthy of the mission to which we have been called for such a time as this. In Jesus’ Name, we pray. Amen.
DAY 3 – YOUR SERVANT’S PRAYER FOR 2020 ANNUAL CONFERENCES
Heavenly Father,
You have said in your Word, ask and it shall be given, seek and you shall find, knock and the door shall be open, and you promise to bless those who are in unity of purpose. The Bible states in Matthew 18:19 that “if two of you agree on earth about anything they may ask, it shall be done for them…” We are asking, seeking and knocking. At the Annual Conferences, we pray that we will be on one accord to take care of the Lord’s business. We pray that we will use each second, each minute, each hour, each day of our business sessions to YOUR glory and honor. May you be pleased with us for having done our best to engage in substantive work, stayed on course and kept you as the centerpiece and focus of our time in all of the sessions. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
DAY 4 – YOUR SERVANT’S PRAYER FOR 2020 ANNUAL CONFERENCES
Lord Almighty,
We call upon you as the Lord of our lives to order our steps as we continue to do the work of the 2020 Annual Conferences. There is so much to do as we hold to our agenda in addressing the business that we have come together to do. Give us the insight and the faith to understand that only what we do for Christ will last. Equip us so that we can return to our various locations for even greater work in your name. When we seem to stray from the purpose for which we have come in this Annual Conference, nudge our hearts and steer us back to where we need to be. Keep us focused on why we have come, so at the close of the 2020 Session, we can all rejoice and proclaim it has all been accomplished to God’s honor, our benefit and those we have the responsibility to serve. Hear our prayer. In Jesus’ Name. Amen!
DAY 5 – YOUR SERVANT’S PRAYER FOR 2020 ANNUAL CONFERENCES
Merciful God,
In our 2020 Annual Conferences, where we have come to do your will and to transact the business that has set the course for Leaving a Kingdom Legacy. We pray that our leaders be challenged; may our hearts be opened, and our self-interest is called out to the needs of our churches and communities. Lord, our world is speaking loudly and clearly to us. We can no longer do business as usual. Keep us on track and our minds fixed on you. We will not leave here like we came. Mold us. May we be worthy to represent your supreme sacrifice of sending your son, without blemish to save us from our sins. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen!
DAY 6 – YOUR SERVANT’S PRAYER FOR 2020 ANNUAL CONFERENCES
Holy One,
We pray for divine discipline to shut out all distractions that would keep us for achieving the goal of doing the business of the conferences. And we will begin and end with God receiving the glory. May we allow your divine Spirit to energize us as we work together to achieve the purpose for which we came. And that purpose is to take care of God’s business.
We know that when believers pray in concert with each other and within God’s will, we can better move the heart of God. There is power in collective prayer when we as believers come together to talk to God and exercise our rightful spiritual authority. Our collective prayers can reach the ear and heart of God if we keep Jesus in our midst. Jesus is the means by which we can connect with God in prayer.
Again, we call upon your name as we fervently pray for the work that will take place in our Annual Conferences. As we engage in the business that has been set before us in our annual conferences, we place before your throne our entire church body. May all the components of ministry-- from the clergy to the lay, to adults and youth-- realize the urgency in getting the business of the Conference accomplished. Then when the last benediction is given, we can all say in unity, “Well done” good and faithful servant. In Jesus’ Name! Amen.
DAY 7 – YOUR SERVANT’S PRAYER FOR THE MISSION OF THE CHURCH AND JUSTICE IN THE WORLD
Dear God of All – Our Father,
As you sent your Son, send us into this your world with your compelling love. We exist to exalt Christ and impact the world. Help us by your Spirit, to practice compassion and care for others. Revive your Church and save your people.
Pour out your Spirit on our land and across the globe, that we may know the things that represent your peace. Pour out your Spirit upon the Church that we may be united in the work to which you have called us. We ask you to open our hearts and let Christ live in us that we may feel the radiant rays of the Holy Spirit and be inspired, and strengthened to preach, teach and share your Gospel of love and forgiveness, of justice and peace.
We pray for the strength to respond to the call for Justice in the World and to love deeply in a difficult time, in a complex world, where injustice is visible in so many places. Arouse in the hearts of those who call you God a hunger and thirst for social justice in deeds and in truth. Grant, O Lord, peace in our days, peace to our souls, peace to our community and peace among nations. May we keep Jesus as the centerpiece and the focus of our lives individually and collectively. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
