As the saying goes - " Nothin ' could be finer than to be in Carolina.... "  The 2015 MidYear Conference was graciously co-hosted by Presiding Elders Evelyn G. Dunn ( North Carolina - Southern District ) & Larry S. Hinton

(Northern District) who went beyond the call of duty in providing the theme Effective Christian Leadership Empowered by Praise, Prayer & Proclaimation.

 

The scriptural reference - John 15:5 " I am the vine; you are the branches.  If you remain in Me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing "  reminded us to stay connected with Jesus.  Bishop also reminded us in his Time for Reflection message in the souvenir journal that " Christian gratitude is at the center of our faith.  We cannot say thank you to God without remembering from whence He brought us. "

 

The opening worship service message was delivered by The Right Reverend Julius Harrison McAllister - Presiding Prelate, Eighth Episcopal District.  The Tribute to Veterans presided by Reverend Charles Sembly included a special poster tribute to Bishop DeVeaux for his veteran service as Lieutenant and Chaplain during the Vietnam era.

 

Reverend Reuben Boyd, Pastor - Third Street Bethel, Richmond, Va., moderated a symposium on Civil Rights, Human Rights, Doing Right Implementing Reforms that Ensure Justice for All featuring panelists - N.C. Attorney General Roy Cooper; Pastors Jill & Richard Edens - United Church of Chapel Hill, N.C.; and Dr. Anthony D. Jackson, Superintendant, Vance County Public Schools.

 

The Dorcas Extravaganza sponsored by the 2nd District Women's Missionary Society  honored Dr. PAM in her final year as Episcopal Supervisor with their rendition of  " Hats Off to Dr. PAM "  paying tribute to her love of hats.

 

The Closing Praise & Proclamation Worship Service featured none other than the fiery Reverend Etoria Goggins, Pastor of Mt. Zion A.M.E. - Severn, MD. Bishop also presided over the ceremonial mortgage burning at Anderson Chapel A.M.E. - Greenville, N.C. pastored by Reverend Mary Williams Faircloth prior to coming home.
