“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” (Isaiah 9:6 NIV)

O Holy Night - Hymn # 121 AMEC Hymnal
00:0000:00

Dear Second Episcopal District Family,

Arelis and I are grateful for the opportunity to extend best wishes for a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year to each of you!

Each time we read, hear and share the beautiful Christmas story, we experience a sense of awesomeness and humility. Just think about it. God loved humankind so much so that He sent His only Son into the world to save us. He took on the sins of each of us so that we could be restored to His Father, and our Father, God. Such love is evident in the above scripture from Isaiah 9:6. Love came down at Christmas in the extraordinary Holy Spirit conception and birth of the Christ child – Jesus.

Christmas is a time where friends and family gather for festivities that bring great joy to many individuals and families. As we celebrate, may we be cognizant that there are those who may be experiencing opposite traits such as, loneliness, social isolation and depression. These feelings can be heightened during this period of celebration.   As the family of God, remember those who may need a loving hand, such as the elderly, those in nursing homes and children in hospitals. Let them know we care by visiting, inviting them to be a part of our celebrations and other means that will bring joy and comfort. Take a moment to reflect how you can make a difference, one life at a time. In this divine and cheerful season, may you find many reasons to celebrate.

And as we celebrate, let’s remember the “Reason for the Season.” Let us strive to keep Christ in Christmas as we reveal love and the Spirit of Christ that dwell in you; allowing those traits to shine in you as you remember others. Faith makes all things possible; hope makes all things work out well; and love makes all things beautiful. May you have all three this Christmas.
